Yield value growth in six seasons

2.4×

Reinvestment velocity increase

March 18, 2026

How Marsh Farms broke an $18M plateau and grew yield value 47% in six seasons.

The challenge

Flat revenue on good land, with every season costing more to run.

Marsh Farms was measuring success in bushels rather than in value per acre. The best fields were subsidising the worst ones, and nobody could say which was which. Two decades of incremental decisions had produced a rotation that suited the equipment rather than the soil, and the family had started to assume the plateau was structural.

The approach

We rebuilt the plan around value per acre instead of total volume.

Field-by-field margin analysis over six seasons showed a third of the acreage was destroying value. We retired the weakest ground into a conservation lease, redesigned the rotation around soil rather than machinery, and moved capital into drainage on the fields that could actually carry it. The operators kept the model and now run it themselves each spring.

The results

Yield value rose 47% across six seasons on the same hectares, and reinvestment now compounds 2.4× faster than before the mandate.

  • Yield value per acre up 47% with no additional land
  • A third of low-margin acreage retired into a conservation lease
  • Reinvestment velocity improved from 0.9× to 2.4×
  • Rotation planning handed fully to the operating team
  • Input spend per value unit down 28%

"SEVNINE showed us we had a yield problem, not a land problem. That insight alone saved us from buying another 600 acres we did not need."
